Welcome

The Center for Instructional Innovation (CII) is now one and the same as the Learning Systems area of ATUS. We appreciate your patience as we update our many web pages. While we are the same people with the same dedication to serving our clients, we have taken on the CII name for both areas as a more unified presence. We also have welcomed a new team member, David Bass (formerly of Western Libraries). Together, we have great things to share!

Learning Opportunities

Purpose

Our purpose is to create, curate, and share best practices for teaching and learning to make teaching more effective and enjoyable. We support essential academic technology tools in order to facilitate and enhance the teaching and learning experience of students, faculty, and staff.

We offer consultations, advice, solutions, & training with:

Canvas — learning management system
Panopto — video management tool
Socrative — class polling tool
Accessibility in learning materials
AI and third-party tool evaluation
Instructional and technology strategies
Emerging technologies, research, deployment

Service Priorities

Crossing the boundaries of discipline and college, the CII works with the entire campus community to ensure that the best instructional practices are promoted and supported. Working closely with Wilson Library, the colleges, departments, Outreach and Continuing Education, and the Office of the Provost, the CII provides leadership, resources, and assistance to Western’s most critical mission—teaching and learning.
