Migrating content from the “Class” drive
Overview
Due to the underlying hardware no longer being supported by the vendor, the networked “Class” storage drive will be set to read-only at the end of the Spring 2022 term. Materials will be available for download, but no new materials can be uploaded.
Starting August 1, 2022, however, the Class drive will be inaccessible. Users are encouraged to review materials on the Class drive and migrate needed content to Canvas or other approved digital storage (such as OneDrive).
Connecting to the Class drive
Most campus desktop computers will automatically map network drives for faculty and staff. However, you may need to manually map those drives in situations like these:
- Students who are also Employees (they will automatically map the U: Drive but not the P: Drive)
- Faculty and staff who use laptops or home computers
- Mac and Linux users who map to network shares using SMB
- Some departments may have specific network shares that are not mapped automatically for all faculty, staff, or students
Please see “How to Connect to Networked Drives” for more information.
Migrating curricular content into Canvas
Once you have accessed your file(s) on the Course drive, you may opt to upload relevant course curriculum into a Canvas course.
Please see “How do I upload a file to a course?” for more information.
For generic curricular materials that are not relevant to a specific course, instructors may request a sandbox course.
Please see “Manual-Enrollment Canvas Course Request” for more information.
Migrating non-curricular material to OneDrive
For content that is not curriculum related to a course in Canvas, users may opt to store your materials in an approved University storage location (such as OneDrive).
Please see “Upload photos and files to OneDrive” for more information.
