Changes to Canvas Inbox Messaging

Canvas Changes

At of the beginning of summer term 2018, the students ability to message all students using the messaging feature within Canvas was turned off. When attempting to send a message through the Canvas inbox students will no longer see ALL IN option to message everyone at once. This change was made following a recommendation by the Learning Management System (LMS) Committee as well as through consultations with the Academic Technology Committee. Faculty had expressed concerns that this tool was being used to spam students inappropriately and without instructor knowledge. Instructors can still provide similar functionality by using the Discussion feature. Individual, student-to-student messaging is still an option for students and can be leveraged by faculty for peer instruction.
