Phone System Issues

5/9/2018, 1:45 PM Update: They Skype services have been restarted and we believe all the phone system issues are resolved. If you experience any issues making or receiving telephone calls, please email telecom@wwu.edu. 

5/8/2018, 9:00 AM Update: Due to connectivity issues with the phone network yesterday, we will be restarting numerous Skype services over the next few days. This should result in improved connectivity. Skype users should not notice any issues during this work other than a loss of Presence for a few minutes.

5:00 PM Update: No issues have been reported late this afternoon, but we continue to monitor and diagnose the situation with our vendor.

1:05 PM Update: An issue with WWU's phone provider is causing intermittent issues for 1) Skype to off-campus calls and 2) off-campus to on-campus calls (both PBX and Skype). On-campus calls should still be fully functioning.

12:35 PM Update: New reports of phone system issues - the problems are being investigated.

11:40 AM Update: All phone services appear to be fully functioning.

5/7/2018 8:00 AM: Some on-campus phone calls are currently unavailable.
This includes calls to Public Safety / Campus Police. Phone technicians have been dispatched to resolve the issue. The symptom is a fast busy signal when attempting a call.
If you experience problems calling an on-campus contact, please use an alternate phone for voice communications or choose another communication medium.

The following calls are working:

  • from PBX phone to PBX phone
  • from Skype phone to Skype phone
  • calls from off-campus to campus

The following calls are not working or are delayed:

  • on-campus from PBX phone to Skype phone
  • on-campus from Skype phone to PBX phone
