How to Roll Back to a Previous Version of Java
Why do I need to roll back Java?
Banner and Famis Forms rely on software called Java. Recently Java released an update 1.8update131 which is problematic with the version of Forms currently on the production INB server. The update may cause some difficulty in navigating through screens and has reportedly lost the ability to copy and paste into Forms. While the newest version of Banner 9 in the test environment does not have these issues, moving those forms from test into production will not happen timely enough for most users. At this time, EAS recommends rolling back to a previous version of Java.
If you would like to remove and reinstall Java without assistance, here are the steps:
1. Open the Control Panel
2. Navigate to Programs and Features
2. Locate the Java 8 Update 131 entry, highlight it and click Uninstall
To install a version of Java from the X drive:
1. Open File Explorer
2. Navigate to Software Services (X:)
3. Navigate to Software
4. Click on the folder for Java
5. Click on the jre-8u121-windows-i586.exe application to launch the install
