Change Your Universal Password

To change your Universal Password, go to myWestern and click the blue Sign In button (Note: You cannot be logged into your account during this process)

Under the green Log In button, click the first link that says Forgot / Change Your Password?

If you know your current password or Do not remember your current password, select one of the options on that page.

Enter your Universal ID and Password, then read and accept the Acceptable Use Policy. You will then be prompted to change your security questions, which can be done by clicking Change Questions, or if you decide to skip this, you can go ahead and click the Next

On the Security Questions page, select a question and input the answer to the question. Repeat this process for the remainder of the questions. If you need any assistance making answers to the questions, there is a Show Tips Below link near the bottom of the page and will display tips on how to create your security questions. Once you are done, click the green Continue button at the bottom of the page.

On the Create New Password page, you will be prompted to create and input your new password. Your password must meet the following:

  • Be 8-15 characters long
  • In the first eight (8) characters, you need at least one of the following:
    • Letters
    • Numbers
    • One of the following special characters:
      • ! % * ~ _ - { } ? [ ] , .
  • Cannot be any combination of your first name, last name, or Universal Username

Input your new password into both of the fields. If your password passes the strength checks, you will have successfully reset your password.

Answer your security questions on the Forgot Password Verification, then click the green Next button at the bottom of the page. Read the Acceptable Use Policy on the next page and click I Accept the AUP.

You will then be prompted to change your security questions, which can be done by clicking Change Questions, or if you decide to skip this, you can go ahead and click  Next

 

 

If your current password has expired

When you get the warning that your password is about to expire, change your password right away as there are limited number of grace logins available. Click the green Change Password Now button to continue.

When prompted, login using your Universal Username and Password. Enter your Universal ID and Password, then read and accept the Acceptable Use Policy. You will then be prompted to change your security questions, which can be done by clicking Change Questions, or if you decide to skip this, click Next to change your password.
