CampusPress Site Archive

Overview

Over the course of a year, the Western community creates hundreds of CampusPress sites for one-time or temporary purposes.  In order to clean up CampusPress sites that are no longer needed, inactive, orphaned, or abandoned, some CampusPress sites will be archived, set to "Private" status, or made unavailable on a regular basis.  Inactive sites are those that have not been updated for the last six months.  Orphaned sites are those where the original owner is no longer part of the Western community.  Sites that are set to "Private," will no longer be viewable by the public.   In the future, inactive or orphaned sites will be removed from CampusPress at the end of each academic year.

What does it look like?

When visiting an archived site, viewers will see the message, “This site has been archived or suspended.”  The same message will be viewed when trying to log in to the site’s administrative panel.

Sites that are set to "Private" will not be available for viewing by the public.  Visiting a site set to "Private" looks like the following:

How to change your site from "Private" back to "Public" status.

To make your "Private" site available to the public again, please follow these steps.

1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard by going to https://wp.wwu.edu/yoursitename/wp-admin and signing in with your Western credentials. For a list of your sites, visit wp.wwu.edu, scroll down to Returning Users then Login. Your sites will be in the My Sites drop down in the upper left.

2.  Go to "Settings" in the left navigation menu, then click "Reading."

3. Locate the "Site Visibility" section at the bottom of the page.

4. Select the "Allow search engines to index this site" option.

5. Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page.
