Status: ResolvedTo install a necessary system update, Degree Works will be unavailable beginning Friday, May 6, at 5:00 p.m. We expect the system to be available by Saturday, May 7, at 5:00 p.m.
OnBase Mainteannce
Status: ResolvedTo perform a required vendor upgrade, OnBase Content Management will be unavailable on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Please fully exit the Onbase Hyland Unity client and/or OnBase web client before the end of the day on April 19. 2022.
Phishing Attack on Western Accounts
Status: ResolvedAn email titled "Personal Assistance Needed" has been circulating among Western accounts since Tuesday, March 29th. The email is a malicious attempt to acquire passwords. If you believe you've been a victim of this scam, change your password and sign up for Western's multi-factor authentication.
RESOLVED: Partial Network Disruption
Status: ResolvedUPDATE: The network disruptions occurring in multiple campus buildings have now been resolved.
Original Message: Network disruptions are occurring in several campus buildings including Humanities, Miller Hall, Old Main, Parks Hall, High Street, Science Lecture, Performing Arts and the Viking Union. The issue is actively being addressed.
RESOLVED: Network Unavailable in SMATE
Status: ResolvedUPDATE: The network issues experienced in the Science, Math, and Technology Education building (SMATE) have now been resolved.
Original Message: Due to an equipment failure, the network is currently unavailable in the Science, Math, and Technology Education building (SMATE). Other services impacted are shared drives for Chemistry, Geology, SMATE, and Sociology. Also, the Mathematica 8 license server and the Bioinformatics and WebMO computational systems are also currently unavailable. The problem is being addressed.
Network Down, Thursday, 3/10/2022, from 6:00-6:30 a.m.
Status: ResolvedRequired maintenance on the university's firewall will make the network unavailable on Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 6:00-6:30 a.m.
RESOLVED: Login Issues – Multiple Systems
Status: Resolved6:15pm – Most services restored. Networking continues to work with Microsoft to address potential issues. Please report any issues to the Help Desk.
12:30pm – Logins are intermittently failing for multiple WWU services, including VPN and Remote Desktop, due to a server issue impacting multiple Microsoft customers worldwide. Western IT staff are working with Microsoft to resolve the issue.
10:00am – Cisco AnyConnect is giving some users two error messages: "AnyConnect was not able to establish a connection to the specified secure gateway. Please try connecting again." and "The secured gateway has rejected the connection attempt. A new connection attempt to the same or another secure gateway is needed, which requires re-authentication. The following message was received from the secure gateway: No assigned address."
Networking team is investigating. Please watch this space for updates.
RESOLVED: Banner Error
Status: ResolvedReports beginning around 9:30am on 1/11/2022 indicate that some users are receiving an error: The system configured for external authentication and identity assertion is null. EIS and EAS are investigating. Please watch this space for updates on its resolution.

Status: ResolvedTo replace all core networking equipment, Parks Hall will have a complete outage of network connectivity Monday, 12/27/2021, through Thursday, 12/30/2021.

Status: ResolvedTo perform necessary network maintenance, VPN and wireless access will be unavailable on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, 12.22.2021 & 12.23.2021, from 5:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.
